Meet the team at the Writing Forge

The Writing Forge is a new company based in Lancashire.

"My wedding was planned for June 2020, bad timing - Yes, I know," says Adam Doyle, the director and head writer of The Writing Forge. "Like thousands of couples across the country, we faced the stress of cancelling suppliers and rearranging dates. We had gone for a very simple rustic outdoor wedding celebration, with a ceremony at the registry as we had both been married before. A year later, we were ready to go despite having half the number of guests we had originally planned.

"We wanted a more intimate ceremony during the day in front of all our guests, but finding the right kind of ceremony and vows proved to be a challenge. We are not particularly religious and wanted something that reflected us, our personality, and what we had been through. We settled on a hand-binding ceremony and set about finding the right words. When planning a wedding, you think of all the big stuff, dress, photographer, cake, venue, etc, but how much time do you set aside for vows, speeches, and toasts? It's one of the things that people remember the most and can make the day extra special.

How to incorporate your beloved pooch into your day

How can we incorporate our beloved pooch into our big day?

"Having your canine companion involved in your big day is incredibly important as they are a large part of the family. Look for a company that offers a range of pet care services to help your big day run smoothly, including the ceremony and photography assistance, full daycare, overnight boarding and even transport between locations. By hiring a professional, you can ensure your dog is part of your day without having to worry.

"Here at Thea's Lakeland Walks, we have great working relationships with an abundance of hotels across Cumbria and surrounding areas, ensuring your dog gets exceptional care whilst fulfilling its role as a very important pet."

Just a wedding

When Mark Lee from Mark Lee Photography set up this shoot at Cheshire's Park Manor, he wanted to seek out like minded suppliers to collaborate on creating stunning inclusive images; and what better showcase this gorgeous shoot than Pride Month! Mark says, "For months I've been coming across posts on Facebook on issues from the LGBTQ+ community over double standards within the wedding industry. Some finding that they were being charged more or that some suppliers just wouldn't work with a same sex couple. Then a supplier wanted to know how to create a logo for same sex supplier so not to offend. And another supplier unsure how to word his contract... this got me thinking. Why is this so difficult? Why does there need to be an issue regardless of who you are and who you want to marry? The law has changed so why are people still living in the dark ages? It's time to accept everyone."

The Wedding Industry Awards have announced the 2021 national winners. After a tough year for the industry, it's been wonderful seeing so many companies recognised and awarded for their hard work. Several local companies were nominated and reached the regional finals, which is a testament to just how talented our wonderful region is. We'd like to say a big congratulations to Simon Vogt Weddings (www.allstardiscocumbria.co.uk) who was named national and regional winner for Best DJ and Lawson Films (www.lawsonfilms.co.uk) for being crowned Best Videographer.

Check out these romantic images taken at Hidden River Barn

"This shoot was designed to create a warm and romantic look with a rich colour palette, perfect for any season," says photographer Chelsea Leigh. "Hidden River Barn is a simply breathtaking venue hidden away in the Carlisle countryside. Surrounded by woodlands and its own private river, who wouldn't want to get married there? Jasmin wore a Sarah Janks design floaty chiffon dress which worked perfectly for those ethereal outdoor shots by the river. With a country esque style, the whole thing came together perfectly." How to choose a pet carer for your big day

Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding! We understand that pets are a huge part of the family, and it's only natural that you would want them to be part of your wedding. The best way to choose your pet care is to see which businesses are recommended by your venue, as they often have a good working relationship with them. Once you have your recommended suppliers, see which ones are close to the property, have qualifications such as Pet First Aid, have good reviews and are fully insured. Venues often have groups on social media where you can ask previous wedding parties for their opinions.
