Daughters of Bohème was created in 2022 following a personal search for a boho wedding dress, that revealed a gap in the Cumbrian market. Through connections with several specialist international designers, Daughters of Bohème is now a must-see in Cumbria for gorgeous wedding gowns for the modern bride, many of them in a boho style.

"My daughter, Georgina, was planning her wedding and she had a strong vision of her perfect wedding dress," says owner Kathreen Burns. "We could see similar styles in magazines and online but struggled to find a bridal shop in North Cumbria that offered boho glamour wedding gowns. Her dad, Mike and I were already involved in the Lake District wedding sector through his generator business and local marquee suppliers. We had space at Flanders to create a bridal wear business that we knew would fill a niche gap in the market, and so Daughters of Bohème was born.

"Our emphasis at Daughters of Bohème is on great service with a private appointment approach, a relaxed setting and a wide range of wedding dresses in stock to try," adds Kathreen. "Wedding gowns from Rembo StylingDando LondonMaryliseNicole Milano and RISH mean that there’s an emphasis on boho style but a variety of designs for the modern bride.

"Daughters of Bohème operates as an appointment-only bridal studio to give you the best experience possible," continues Kathreen. "By booking ahead, we’ll make sure that you have a bridal stylist on hand and access to our beautiful designer gowns. You can try on as many as you like, as often as you like – we understand that it’s a big decision and could be hard to choose, so we want you to be able to relax."

Low Flanders is just outside Dalston near Carlisle. Alongside their own home, Kathreen and Mike Burns have created luxury holiday and honeymoon accommodation – Dandelion and Hoglet Cottages. Kathreen and her family have converted part of their Grade II listed home into a spacious and light bridal studio to create a dedicated space for Daughters of Bohème. The business is found down a short lane, off the beaten track, but just a short drive from the M6 motorway and from Dalston and Carlisle.

The South Terrace and Lounge will feature a new bar with mirrored detailing to enhance natural light, alongside flexible room dividers and an adjoining rooftop space offering panoramic views of Manchester's skyline. Expert says prenups aren't just for the rich and famous

Expert says prenups aren't just for the rich and famous

Legal experts at Richard Nelson LLP are urging Brits to rethink who prenups are really for. While often seen as something reserved for high-profile couples, data suggests they remain largely overlooked in everyday relationships. Just 7 percent of divorced Brits had a prenuptial agreement in place before separating, highlighting a significant gap between perception and reality. Regionally, attitudes vary. Manchester has emerged as the UK's 'prenup capital', with 13 percent of divorced couples having one in place, compared to 8 percent in London and 11 percent in Birmingham. Meanwhile, cities including Liverpool and Southampton reported no uptake among those surveyed.
