How to add seasonal touches to your wedding dress

Couple dancing

Q – My hubby-to-be and I are having an autumn wedding and would love to incorporate seasonal touches into my wedding dress. Do you have any ideas of how I can do this?

"There are several ways you could add a touch of colour to your bridal gown without going overboard. If you’re planning to wear a veil, you could find a seamstress who will add red lace to the hem. Alternatively, you could opt for a headpiece that ties in with the time of year.

"Try adding a ribbon or sash around the waist of your gown or looking for striking earrings, bracelets or necklaces.

"My best advice would be to purchase a shawl or over-the-shoulder faux fur in an autumnal shade. This would look amazing and be practical as the weather starts to turn a little cooler.

"You could also add a red petticoat underneath your dress, so when your photographer takes photos you can show a splash of colour when you twirl or lift your dress. Lastly, don’t forget your shoes! They don’t have to be white or ivory and are a fun way of incorporating your theme."
