April/May 2020

Firstly, I hope all of our readers have been keeping well during this surreal, unprecedented time. It would be hard for me to not mention the dreaded c-word, however, I admire how everyone, no matter how badly they have been effected, has come together to help and support one another. The tide will start turning, and we can all begin to re-plan cancelled weddings, re-book honeymoons and get back to our wonderful world of weddings – supporting local couples and businesses finding their feet again!

This issue is bursting with inspiration; we have four real weddings starting on page 23, a guide on how to choose your big-day jewellery on page 49 and we get to know local photographers better on page 45.

I hope you enjoy the issue and don’t forget you can submit your wedding at any time by visiting this link – www.yournorthwest.wedding/get-involved-real-wedding

Holbeck Ghyll

Holbeck Ghyll is a 19th-century hunting lodge built by Lord Lonsdale. In 1973, it was transformed into a hotel and boasts acres of countryside, large bay windows and an ivy covered façade. Guests will be impressed by the far-reaching views of the nearby mountains, lakes and fells, creating an impressive backdrop for photographs.

The Oak Room is a charming space in the hotel’s main restaurant that houses a large fireplace and oak-panelled walls. This room will seat 45, however, there’s the option to open out the room into the Bar and Lounge to seat 64.

The Seagrave Room is a purpose-built, contemporary room set 20 yards from the main hotel. It has a striking décor, stunning views and can hold 32 friends and family for the service.

The Lonsdale Room is located in the original part of the property and boasts a beautiful fireplace and bay windows. It can accommodate 20 (including the bride and groom) for the vows.

The Drawing Room is used for more intimate celebrations, this space boasts a neutral décor throughout, ideal for couples looking for a blank canvas, with room for eight (including the bride and groom) for the ceremony and reception.

A Marquee can be erected to hold up to 150 people, giving unprecedented views of the lake and beyond.

Couples will receive a personalised menu and tasting session created by the venue’s head chef.

Instead of settling for a luxury box trailer toilet, they decided to dress up the stable loo's at their venue, and that's where the idea was born; to offer something similar but in a mobile form for others.
