The Yan a bistro-with-beds in the Lake District has revealed its summer menu
The Yan is set on a former 17th Century farm at the foot of the fells just outside Grasmere village and its guests can walk Helvellyn and Helm Crag from its doorstep, with some of Cumbria’s best walking and cycling routes easily to hand too. After days on the fells, guests can return and, complete with muddy boots, enjoy the exceptional comfort food for which The Yan has become renowned – with everything smoked, pickled, preserved, cooked and baked from scratch in house right down to the ketchup.
Summer menu choices for dinner include shepherd's pie made with slowly braised Herdwick lamb from Grasmere, cheesy mashed potato, cured ham and garden peas, fresh vegetable and herb broth with roasted butternut squash in a vegetable and butter bean broth topped with parsley and horseradish dumplings and an indulgent sharing platter of steak frites - slow cooked Cumbrian beef brisket, pan seared and topped with chimichurri butter and served with frites topped with truffle pecorino, pink peppercorn sauce, a smoked tomato, field mushroom stuffed with blue cheese, red onion chutney and breadcrumbs and a watercress salad with pickled carrots. The Yan’s breakfasts and desserts are equally as mouth-watering and just perfect before/after a Summer’s day getting active on the Lake District landscapes.
Rooms at The Yan cost from £130 per night on a room only basis and are chic, with great views, luxurious bedding, fluffy towels and generous Pure Lakes toiletries.
