We interviewed Gemma from Fiore Dorato.
Q – Tell us about your company.
I'm Gemma, the creative behind Fiore Dorato, unfortunately, I'm not a curly-haired Italian man (much to the disappointment of a few brides), but a local girl from Lancashire who loves to travel for weddings and events. I'm a fully qualified florist with more than 10 years of experience, and although I create flowers for all occasions, my true passion is weddings.
Q – What packages/services do you offer couples?
I don't have set packages as each wedding is unique. I do, however, have a base price guide with three main ranges from which you can work out what might be realistic in your budget. That being said, I have lots of tricks to maximise your spend such as you're better having one bigger item which can be moved to make a statement.
Q – What should couples expect when booking your services?
I have a very relaxed take on the planning process, I love big crazy ideas and think nothing can't be done. However, I am very realistic and straight-talking when managing expectations and spend so you get exactly what you would like. Part of the initial conversation is to find out what you must have, what you would like to have, and we can go from there.
Q – How long before the wedding should couples get in touch?
As with all suppliers you like, I would say book as soon as you find them to guarantee they have space. I already have enquiries for 2023, but if you're a last-minute planner and happy to go with my selections, we can work on a couple of days notice!
Q – What's your favourite part of the job?
Aside from working with flowers, the smell and tranquillity they bring. I also love the joy my creations give to people, and the look on a bride's face when you deliver her bouquet is priceless.
Q – Do you have any top tips for brides looking for a florist?
Be honest with yourself and your florist, especially about your budget, there is nothing worse than spending ages going through ideas to get your quote back, and it's too much, so manage your expectations. The key is to enjoy the planning process.
