How to incorporate the season into your hair and make-up

Bride Q – We’re having a winter wedding, and I’d love to incorporate some of the season’s colours into my hair and make-up. Do you have any suggestions?

"Winter weddings can be so magical and with so much choice for your hair and make-up, it’s hard to know where to start! To help, I’ve put together some of my top tips:

"Simple but effort works best. I recommend choosing either a bold eye or lip, so your look doesn’t become overpowering.

"Choose a style that suits you and be confident in yourself. If you’ve booked a hair or make-up artist they’ll be able to help you decide on a look.

"Select what hair accessories you’ll be wearing, such as a headband, tiara or flowers. This can be an easy way to incorporate your chosen colours or even just a hint of them.

"Plum goes perfectly with this time of year and works with most skin tones. You could add this hue to your lips, eyeshadow or if you’re feeling adventurous, even you’re eyeliner.

"A gold-based highlighter can look beautiful paired with a soft blush.

"You could choose to use these ideas for your bridesmaids as well to tie the whole look together.

"Always have a hair and make-up trial, preferably on the same day. Make sure you communicate with your supplier on what you want and any of your concerns. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, as they’ll be able to advise what is best for you. It’s their job, after all.

"I always say that make-up is there to enhance and help you feel the best version of you, especially on your big day."
