Jessica and Sam met in primary school. “We're both laid-back and have a great sense of humour,” says Jessica. “We just clicked and knew right away that we were meant to be together.” After six years of dating, Sam popped the question at the top of Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix while skiing. “It was a complete surprise – he was really worried about dropping the ring through the gaps in the decking,” laughs the bride. “He actually bought the ring a year before he proposed, but he was waiting for the perfect moment to ask me.”
Here she shares some of her favourite moments from their big day...
We chose The Heather Glen Country House in Carlisle as it was local to us, and we loved how laid-back and down to earth the owners were. We had the space to ourselves throughout the day, and the food was out of this world.
For our favours, we gave our guests homemade jam, made from raspberries that my mum had picked at Blencowe Hall. Sam's mum made shortbread filled with Nutella, which went down a treat with our friends and family.
My grandparents made our gorgeous cake. It was made up of lemon, chocolate, fruit and Victoria sponge.
I felt incredibly nervous and on top of the world when I woke up. I felt a sense of relief that our big day was finally here and that I was marrying my best friend.
I chose a Pronovias gown from Mia Sposa Bridal Boutique in Newcastle upon Tyne. It had a sweetheart neckline, mermaid skirt and gemstone embroidery. It looked stunning, and I instantly fell in love with it.
My veil was my something borrowed, as my mum had wore it on her wedding day.
Our centrepieces were vintage grey jugs filled with fresh flowers and butterfly confetti.
I was actually early for the wedding, so I had to hide in the Campervan in the sweltering heat while the rest of our guests arrived! It did result in enjoying a bottle of prosecco prior to the ceremony while we waited.
Sam opted for a blue checkered tweed suit from Marc Darcy. He wore a dickie bow tie to help him stand out from the groomsmen and they all looked great.
The bridesmaids wore gorgeous grey halterneck floor-length dresses with diamanté details from Quiz.
For the evening, we hired a local band called Squeeze Box. They were great and ke pt everyone on the dancefloor.
One of the main things that stood out for me was the speeches. Everyone was laughing and crying, and it was amazing being able to share our special day with so many amazing people.
For our honeymoon, we spent a few days in Las Vegas before moving on to Mexico. We lo ve exploring new places, so we wanted to visit two destinations in one trip. The helicopter ride across the Grand Canyon was out of this wo rld!
