Higher and higher

Jessica and Sam celebrated their love with a beautiful wedding at The Heather Glen Country House.

Jessica and Sam met in primary school. “We're both laid-back and have a great sense of humour,” says Jessica. “We just clicked and knew right away that we were meant to be together.” After six years of dating, Sam popped the question at the top of Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix while skiing. “It was a complete surprise – he was really worried about dropping the ring through the gaps in the decking,” laughs the bride. “He actually bought the ring a year before he proposed, but he was waiting for the perfect moment to ask me.”

Here she shares some of her favourite moments from their big day...

We chose The Heather Glen Country House in Carlisle as it was local to us, and we loved how laid-back and down to earth the owners were. We had the space to ourselves throughout the day, and the food was out of this world.

I felt incredibly nervous and on top of the world when I woke up. I felt a sense of relief that our big day was finally here and that I was marrying my best friend.

Higher and higher: Image 4I chose a Pronovias gown from Mia Sposa Bridal Boutique in Newcastle upon Tyne. It had a sweetheart neckline, mermaid skirt and gemstone embroidery. It looked stunning, and I instantly fell in love with it.

Our centrepieces were vintage grey jugs filled with fresh flowers and butterfly confetti.

Higher and higher: Image 6I was actually early for the wedding, so I had to hide in the Campervan in the sweltering heat while the rest of our guests arrived! It did result in enjoying a bottle of prosecco prior to the ceremony while we waited.

The bridesmaids wore gorgeous grey halterneck floor-length dresses with diamanté details from Quiz.

Higher and higher: Image 8For the evening, we hired a local band called Squeeze Box. They were great and ke pt everyone on the dancefloor.

Higher and higher: Image 8b One of the main things that stood out for me was the speeches. Everyone was laughing and crying, and it was amazing being able to share our special day with so many amazing people.

For our honeymoon, we spent a few days in Las Vegas before moving on to Mexico. We lo ve exploring new places, so we wanted to visit two destinations in one trip. The helicopter ride across the Grand Canyon was out of this wo rld!
