Jenny Au, 30, married Dave Wood, 29, at Manchester Town Hall on the 8th July, 2017.
We originally wanted to tie the knot in a country house and we did find a venue that we loved but unfortunately it wasn't flexible enough for us. We ended up visiting Manchester Town Hall and as soon as we saw it we fell in love. The staff were great, nothing was too much trouble and they were super flexible.
I work in a bridal boutique so I had a rough idea of what style I wanted. I did a lot of research online and as soon as I saw my dress I knew it was the one. I purchased it from a lovely store in Cheshire that unfortunately went into administration so I ended up dealing with the designer directly and having the dress delivered to my boutique, Honeyblossom Bridal.
I had my hair and make-up done by Claire and Sarah from Salon Girl Code. I wanted to hire someone local and I did lots of research before I eventually came across them. My look lasted all day and I had so many compliments – I felt amazing.
We purchased our big-day bake from Cakes by Preye. It was three colours, white, grey and pink and a variety of flavours including piña colada, vanilla with custard and chocolate. I came across Preye's work on Facebook and fell in love with her style instantly. She decorated it with a mixture of drips, an ombre-effect and macarons.
Dave loves music so we hired a classical guitarist called Rik Roberts to play a specially arranged version of Somebody to Love by Queen as I walked down the aisle. We also had a three-piece acoustic band play and they turned into a five-piece party band in the evening. We had a DJ perform until the end of the night following their performance.
We were keen to include influences from my heritage so we hired the Manchester Chinese Martial Arts Centre to do a lion dance. We'd seen them perform in Manchester's city centre during the Chinese New Year celebrations and we knew we had to have them at our wedding.
