Meant to be together

Stephanie and Jennifer celebrated their love with a beautiful wedding at the Albert Square Chop House.

Stephanie and Jennifer met on a dating site. “A lot of our friends were using it, so I set up a profile, hoping to meet someone,” says Jennifer. “I messaged Steph with a quote from what turned out to be her favourite film, The Silence of the Lambs. She was very impressed, and we began messaging each other constantly.”

After a year of dating, Stephanie popped the question on their first anniversary. “I came home from work in the early hours, expecting Steph to be asleep,” explains Jennifer. “I walked into the lounge, and our favourite song – John Legend's All Of Me – was playing. In the middle of the room were rose petals and a note that said 'look out the window'. In the garden were huge light-up letters that said 'marry me'. She'd made them using hundreds of tea lights. I was completely shocked, and when I found Steph, she got down on one knee and proposed.” Here she shares some of her favourite moments from their big day…

Steph and I wanted an intimate ceremony with our closest friends and family. We loved the Albert Square Chop House and knew right away that we wanted to get married there. The Grade II listed building has fantastic architecture and offers amazing views of Manchester.

Meant to be together: Image 2We wanted to keep the décor plain and simple, so we scattered rose petals down the aisle and placed candles around the room.

Meant to be together: Image 2b We decorated the space with gold vases, small wooden hearts and love signs.

We had gorgeous light-up letters from Love Letters of Bolton.

Meant to be together: Image 4The dancefloor was filled with gold balloons, which looked fabulous.

Meant to be together: Image 4b Instead of a traditional cake, we opted for tiers of cupcakes, embellished with small flags that had our initials printed on them.

I chose a Morilee dress. I loved its high neckline and embellished low back.

Meant to be together: Image 6We both wanted mermaid-style gowns that complemented our figures. Steph visited a local store called Something Blue Bridal Boutique in Bolton, where she fell in love with a St Patrick fitted dress.

Meant to be together: Image 6b Because of the intimacy and simplicity of our ceremony, we chose not to have bridesmaids. Instead, we walked down the aisle together, holding hands and each carrying a large single rose.

We accessorised with simple yet distinctive bracelets, earrings and hair pins.

Meant to be together: Image 8We got married in the evening. Our guests had champagne and canapés before being taken to our reception room for drinks.

Meant to be together: Image 8b On the morning of the wedding, I played Steph a video that I had made for her. Our friends and family had recorded messages, and I pieced them together. She loved it, and it was really funny and emotional.

The speeches were wonderful, and we celebrated afterwards with drinks, a DJ and food.

Meant to be together: Image 10The music matched our tastes perfectly. We had lots of 80's tunes that everyone loved and danced to.

Meant to be together: Image 10b New York is our favourite place, so we knew we wanted to go there for our honeymoon. It was the most amazing trip we've had so far! A week later, we flew to Marrakech to sunbathe and experience the culture.

We still look at our photographs at least once a week and have lots of them dotted around our home. I can't imaged our day being captured more stylishly or as naturally as it was. We wish we could do it all over again!
