June/July 2022

June/July 2022

It dawned on me a few weeks ago that this is my final issue before I become a married woman – it still feels weird saying that! Our July 2022 wedding is just around the corner, and I don’t know where the time has gone. I’ve just had my final dress fitting, my hair and make-up trial and confirmed all the last-minute details but I still feel like I’m forgetting something! My partner and I are planning to sit down together at the end of the month and iron out all the small details so we can spend the next few weeks relaxing.

We were finally able to give notice this month, which was a big relief. Our local registry office is still overwhelmed by the backlog caused by the pandemic and is only taking bookings for weddings three months in advance, so we’ve had to wait until now to book our appointment, but thankfully it all went well. If you’re due to tie the knot soon, keep checking your council’s website for availability, as appointments are hard to come by.

This issue, to help you on your planning journey, we’ve put together showstopping features focusing on flowers and looking your best. We’re also looking at venues in Manchester, the latest fashion trends and must-see honeymoon destinations.

Remember, if you’ve recently celebrated your day or have been involved with a shoot, you can submit it here or via email.

The Red Hall Hotel

The Red Hall Hotel has recently been refurbished and boasts luxurious bedrooms, an impressive honeymoon suite and a restaurant that’s available for pre-wedding celebrations. This modern and contemporary property has a garden terrace that overlooks the hills and is the perfect spot for an outdoor drinks reception.

The Holcombe Suite is the largest function room and is decorated in neutral tones with chandeliers and soft lighting. It’s capable of holding 120 loved ones for the ceremony and meal and 150 for the evening celebration. Intimate nuptials are held in the Peel Suite, a contemporary space with lots of natural light and room for 70 guests for the service, 50 for the sit-down meal and 80 for the reception.

Start saving for your hen and stag do

According to a study by Hotels.com®, 2022 is the year to go bigger and bolder than ever when it comes to planning your hen/sten/stag do - we're all making up for lost time over the past two years! After 2020/21 nearlyweds had to reschedule a stag or hen party, this year revellers are using more holiday days and spending more money than ever to celebrate their friend's final months of unmarried life in style. The study found the average pre-wedding celebration now costs a whopping £242 compared to the more subtle cost of £150 in 2012. Nearly 47% of those surveyed believe that these pre-wedding celebrations have become more extravagant over the last decade, with 46% of travellers believing it's because people have been saving up and have larger budgets to spend on these special occasions over the pandemic.
