My partner and I are in the process of house-hunting. Wherever we end up will be my first property, and I already can’t wait to finally move in and begin decorating! Our first anniversary is also approaching, and finding the perfect gift is proving to be a struggle. We’re not big fans of over-the-top gestures, but I want to mark this milestone with a big celebration. How do you celebrate special occasions? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Cote How Lake District Weddings
Cote How Lake District Weddings is situated in 11 acres of beautiful countryside stretching to the shores of Rydal Water. Built in 1535 on the site of a Medieval watch tower, the award-winning Grade II listed house and barn boasts a Tudor spinning gallery, an arched porch, buttressed walls and informal gardens, creating a stunning backdrop for those all-important photographs.
Couples can get married in The Fairfield, a spacious room decorated with gilt mirrors and crystal chandeliers. French doors open on to manicured lawns that can be used for post-ceremony drinks. It’s capable of holding 50 guests for the vows and 24 for the wedding breakfast.
Alternatively, The Wordsworth, an intimate room specifically designed for elopements of just two or intimate weddings for 12 close family and friends, is available.
The Woodrow, which features a cosy fireplace, original oak panelling and a beamed ceiling, can fit 24 for the ceremony and 12 for an intimate afternoon tea or sit-down meal.
The Garden Gazebo can seat 12 loved ones for the service.
Outdoor humanist ceremonies can take place on the croquet lawn with 50 nearest and dearest.
The barn and barn courtyard can hold 50 people throughout the day.
Lovebirds will have exclusive use of the venue and are invited to plant a celebration tree in the grounds that can be commemorated with a personalised plaque.
