December/January 2020/2021

It’s that time of year again where the shops are packed, and everyone is getting into the festive spirit. After a rough year, I think we can all agree that a few weeks of Christmas cheer is most welcome! Whatever your plans are, I hope you have a lovely time and take a well-deserved break.

The December/January issue has always been my favourite, and I look forward to writing it every year. It’s packed full of inspiration, adorable products, wintry weddings and the latest fashion trends. To celebrate the end of 2020, we’ve gone all out with a bridal boutiques feature that will help you find the perfect dress, a guide to intimate weddings and make-up tips. If you’re dreaming of tying the knot in a fairytale venue, then we’ve got you covered on page 17 or if you’re looking for something in Lancashire, head over to page 13.

Don’t forget if you’re planning your big day or have recently got married to submit your wedding. You can get in touch with me at Melissab@kdmediapublishing.com or enter online – www.yournorthwest.wedding/get-involved-real-wedding

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and I’ll see you in the new year!

Appleby Castle

Appleby Castle is a grant yet homely fortress surrounded by acres of charming woodland. There are plenty of places to take photographs, including the lawns, river and secret historic follies. The grand gates will greet guests, and as they peek through the Inner Bailey, the true scale of this magnificent castle will begin to unfold. Full of history, the property has gorgeous antiques, roaring fires, magnificent wedding spaces and romantic nooks to create special memories.

The venue is registered for civil ceremonies with several stunning spaces to choose from. The Great Hall has a suit of armour perched over the fireplace, dramatic high ceilings and comfortable furnishings.

Those looking for a more intimate celebration will have a choice of oak-panelled rooms which can be turned into a romantic dining setting in the evening.

In the gardens, couples can pick from the Yew Tree Avenue, Butterfly Meadow or Ornate Pagoda. Alternatively, the Keep can be used which is currently being restored to its former glory.

After the vows, guests can move to The Old Great Hall, located on the ground floor it boasts stone pillars, antique oak benches and long tables.
