How to find the perfect wedding entertainment

When it comes to wedding entertainment, every act is different, but there are a few things you'll need to know, whether you're booking an acoustic duo, a string quartet, or a nine-piece Motown band. Firstly, ask if they offer to learn any song requests, it's always good to know this in advance rather than a month or so before your wedding. Some acts will include song requests in their packages or can learn a song for an additional fee, however not every supplier offers this, especially if they have an extensive repertoire already, but it's always worth asking! Similarly to this, you should also request to see their repertoire before booking to make sure you love the songs you're going to be listening to.... read more

They also have a huge catalogue of music and can provide a sound system and lighting to help create a party vibe. Before booking, ask yourself will you dance all night? If so, choose specific songs and a DJ you really want. If not, opt for a DJ that will please the biggest percentage of your guests. At the end of the day, if your friends and family are having fun, it will keep you smiling and happy. If your loved ones aren't enjoying the tunes, then there will be an empty dancefloor and no atmosphere.... read more

Local harpist gives her top tips for booking wedding suppliers online

Booking someone online can be quite a daunting prospect, especially for your big day. Unfortunately, meeting your musician in person is not an option at the moment. However, most professionals will have a website with recordings and videos that you can play to help you get a feel for if they're the right person for you. If you're thinking of booking, try and speak to the supplier in person rather than just through E-mail. There are so many different platforms available for this, including Skype, Zoom and WhatsApp. When a couple does book me for their big day, I send them a list of what I currently play and ask them to send over some of their ideas so that I can tailor the music to suit their tastes. Those of you thinking of booking a harpist, it's a beautiful, rich sounding and dramatic looking instrument. The effect may be lost in a web link, however on the day, you cannot beat the sound of a live instrument.... read more
