How to personalise your ceremony

As a modern celebrant, I always spend time getting to know my couples to create something unique and joyful. The only limitation is your imagination, from fun, traditional, modern to religious, symbolic and quirky, the options are endless. Don't just think about the ceremony content, keep in mind where it is taking place and if it is somewhere special to you both. Think about the seating layout of your ceremony and talk to your venue about different options - could everyone sit in a circle, so no one has a bad view?

How to find the perfect celebrant

Choosing the right celebrant for your ceremony is an important decision, so shop around and don't rush into booking anybody until you are sure they are the right supplier for you. Start by looking at websites and social media, this will give you a feel for their vibe. For example, if their gallery is full of sassy and fun pictures from previous ceremonies, then explore further to see if it's the right balance of excitement and romance for you.

The rise of humanist weddings

Neil Dutta at Angelic Diamonds, a UK wedding jewellery specialist, explores why humanist weddings have seen an increase in popularity in recent years. With official guidance looking to change in the not too distant future, giving celebrants more legal power to actually marry couples - removing the need for a pre- or post-blessing registry office date - here at County Wedding Magazine HQ we think this is a trend that will continue to soar.

What to ask a celebrant before booking

Congratulations on deciding to have a celebrant-led ceremony! You already know that you want something different for your wedding day and are happy to go off-script to achieve the ceremony you really want. A celebrant-led wedding is intimate and special, but the right supplier can elevate the merely fabulous to create something completely magical. Your supplier is going to spend a lot of time with you, getting to know you and learning about your journey so far. They will listen to your story and weave it into your wedding script with the right amount of gravitas, warmth, humour and sentiment for you as a couple. We interviewed That Celebrant Guy to find out more about his company

I'm Glenn, or "That Celebrant Guy" if you'd rather. I started out a very stagey kid, and was in fact in the final five to play Harry Potter in the films of the same name! Not bitter at all, but Mr Radcliffe pipped me to the post. So, I got older and trained as a professional dancer. After a few shows in the UK, I went on to be head of entertainment for a chain of hotels, working in family hotels in both Mallorca and Menorca.Upon returning to the UK, I started writing and performing ceremonies for family and friends. It was only when somebody asked who "That Celebrant Guy" was that it caught on. All of a sudden other bookings were coming in, and "That Celebrant Guy" was, shall we say, born (or perhaps launched into the world at rocket speed). I'm based in the bright lights of sunny Blackpool, although have friends and family dotted all around the UK, so I am very fortunate to be able to perform ceremonies all around the UK.
