Choosing your dream wedding dress is undeniably one of the most exciting parts of getting married and here's where North West boutique owners and their teams can help you choose the perfect gown.
Your local North West wedding dress boutique will typically stock a range of wedding dresses from both UK and international designers to suit your fashion style and budget. You will also receive expert knowledge and guidance on how to select complementing accessories for your big day including tiaras, veils, shoes and more.
It’s advisable to book a one-to-one appointment with a boutique so that you have time to view the collections on offer and try on any wedding gowns that you think might be the one!
Do take time to research styles that will flatter your figure, however, keep an open mind on suggestions that an advisor may make and benefit from their experience and knowledge of dressing North West based brides-to-be.

Short wedding dresses are becoming a massive trend. You don't have to wear the traditional tea-length design, you could opt for a high front and low back like Gwen Stefani's Vera Wang gown or something like Lilly Allen's vintage mini Dior dress. If that's not for you, then how about ruffles? It can create extra detailing or you could go big with a ruffle mermaid skirt. Off-the-shoulder gowns are super flattering and very popular among most designers. Square necklines have also made a return thanks to Bridgerton setting a new trend.... read more

First of all, congratulations and welcome to your planning journey! You're bound to feel a little nervous attending your first bridal appointment, after all, it's not every day you get to try on a wedding dress. I can't talk for all bridal boutiques, but here at The Bridal House, we offer a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We like to think that we put our brides and her guests at ease minutes after they walk through the door. At the start of your appointment, your consultant will ask about your ideas and plans for the big day. Be descriptive, this helps paint a picture of how you envisage your special day and don't be afraid to ask questions.... read more

The Bridal house first opened its doors in 2017, offering a small range of bridal and prom dresses. In 2020 we took the plunge and moved to a larger premises in the town centre of Barrow in Furness. We also became a Gaia Brand Partner, expanded our collections to offer additional designers, began stocking a larger choice for bridesmaids and introduced a flowergirl range. I carefully handpick every single style that is brought into the boutique and don't pack my rails with filler dresses. We only sell a style a handful of times to ensure we are keeping with the fashion, we live in a small town and feel this way our brides' guests will be unlikely to of seen their gown on anyone else in town. We offer bridal, bridesmaid and flowergirl appointments along with prom. We offer services such as dress steaming, preserving and packaging, customising wedding trainers and hangers and a "dress the bride" service on the day of their wedding.... read more

My best advice would be to purchase a shawl or over-the-shoulder faux fur in an autumnal shade. This would look amazing and be practical as the weather starts to turn a little cooler. You could also add a red petticoat underneath your dress, so when your photographer takes photos you can show a splash of colour when you twirl or lift your dress. Lastly, don't forget your shoes! They don't have to be white or ivory and are a fun way of incorporating your theme.... read more
